Bitcoin just slept through Japan’s rate decision, but a swollen yen short is quietly threatening a massive margin call

Bitcoin’s leverage gauges barely flinched after Friday’s Bank of Japan resolution. A yen short that had reached 152,125 contracts by July 21 grew to 163,412 by July 28, whereas Hajime Takata’s failed push for 1.25% now provides merchants a clear strain level to look at.

The board held the in a single day rate close to 1.0% by an 8-1 vote. Takata stood alone at 1.25%. The newest Commodity Futures Trading Commission report counted 101,271 non-commercial longs and 264,683 shorts as of July 28.

Bitcoin barely strikes through the choice

USD/JPY was little modified between the BOJ’s reference-rate releases. Official BOJ reference rates ran 160.17 to 160.19 at 9 a.m. in Tokyo and 160.20 to 160.22 at 5 p.m. The full Tokyo session ranged from 159.39 to 160.90 and straddled the coverage launch, limiting its worth as a clear response gauge.

Coinbase BTC-USD gained about 0.1% from 3 to 4 a.m. UTC. Binance BTCUSDT slipped about 0.53% between 3:10 and 11:15 a.m. UTC. The later drift remained modest.
