Building The Cross-Chain Future: Flare, XRPL Commons And EasyA Hackathon At Harvard

Flare is teaming up with EasyA and XRPL Commons to host a 36-hour hackathon at Harvard University on September 20 – 21, 2025. Bringing collectively 200 builders, the occasion is a strategic step in rising the XRPFi ecosystem, showcasing how Flare’s interoperability protocols and XRP Ledger (XRPL) applied sciences can energy the subsequent wave of DeFi, funds, and client apps.

Alongside a $35,000 prize pool, individuals will acquire hands-on cross-chain improvement expertise, join with mentors from the Flare and XRPL ecosystems, and be part of devoted in-person workshops led by builders from each ecosystems.

Hackathon tracks

Participating devs will compete throughout three tracks:

1) Cross-Chain Finance & Real-World Assets (XRPFi)

Build the way forward for finance by combining XRPL’s asset issuance and liquidity with Flare’s decentralized knowledge and proofs. Create tokenized belongings, lending/borrowing platforms, yield merchandise, and event-driven monetary purposes anchored in real-world knowledge.

2) Composable dApps & Interoperable Infrastructure

Design next-gen dApps that seamlessly join XRPL and Flare. Use Flare’s good accounts, FAssets, and enshrined oracles along with XRPL’s funds and settlement layer to unlock programmable liquidity, cross-chain workflows, and new consumer experiences.

3) Vibe Coding: Consumer Apps

This monitor is about creativity and usefulness. Build light-weight apps that showcase Flare’s protocols (FAssets, FDC, or FTSO) in enjoyable, accessible methods – from prediction video games and evolving digital collectibles to neighborhood reward techniques.

In-person workshops

On Saturday, September twentieth, individuals can be part of any of three technical workshops led by Flare engineers.

Workshop 1: Composability & Interoperability with Flare – Victor Muñoz
How to make use of Flare merchandise (FTSO, FDC, FAssets) with XRPL to create composable options and convey Web2 knowledge onchain.

Workshop 2: Programmable Liquidity with Flare + XRPL – Thomas Hussenet
Learn to construct programmable on/off-ramps that join fiat and blockchains utilizing Flare + XRPL.

Workshop 3: Flare Smart Accounts & XRPL Controlled Accounts – Filip Koprivec
Discover how XRPL can management good contracts on Flare and allow cross-chain account abstraction.

Why Flare + the XRPL Ledger

The Harvard hackathon highlights how the 2 ecosystems complement one another: The XRP Ledger brings a decade of dependable, high-speed settlement, deep liquidity, and inherent help for tokenization. Flare provides safe interoperability, decentralized oracles, and cross-chain knowledge and proof.

Together, builders can unlock:

  • Next-Gen DeFi → Event-triggered yields, auto-adjusting lending, structured finance.
  • Cross-Chain Flows → Secure asset motion throughout the XRPL + Flare with out bridges.
  • Tokenized RWAs → Bonds, invoices, and notes with onchain verification.
  • Consumer Apps → Wallets and cross-chain funds for on a regular basis customers.

This hackathon builds on Flare’s partnership with EasyA, the world’s largest Web3 schooling app. Through the #60DaysOfFlare marketing campaign, EasyA is onboarding hundreds of builders through in-app challenges that train Flare’s oracles, FAssets, and staking, making a pipeline of builders able to launch actual tasks within the XRPFi ecosystem.

“We’re constructing sturdy, strategic relationships within the XRPL ecosystem – aligning occasions, schooling, and integration with product rollouts to attach Flare’s tech to XRPL builders and the XRPL community,” mentioned Max Luck, Head of Growth at Flare. “This hackathon forges a direct loop between the XRPL and Flare infrastructure, bringing financial utility, staking yield, and developer adoption to the XRPL ecosystem.”

“The XRPL stands out for pace, liquidity, and its enterprise-grade infrastructure. Integrating Flare brings true composability, increasing our basis right into a full-fledged DeFi ecosystem,” mentioned Odelia Torteman, Director of Corporate Adoption, XRPL Commons. “The mixed strengths of XRPL’s liquidity-rich platform and Flare’s decentralized knowledge unlock new DeFi prospects.”
